World War II Heritage
Tangible traces of World War II, on land and on the seabed of Samate.
The shores and waters of Samate hold traces of World War II. Caves on land were once used by Japanese troops as hideouts, while shipwrecks from the same era rest on the seabed.
These relics are a real historical record. Caring for them means honouring the events that once passed through the village, and opening a space of learning for the generations to come.
